Legend has it that Queen Anne of Great Britain, wife of King James I, was challenged by her friends to create a lace as beautiful as a flower. It is said that the queen, while making the lace, pricked her finger. That is why the purple red color in the center of the lace flower represents a drop of her blood. Also called wild carrot (because the lace flower is the wild progenitor of the typical carrot that we currently know), also called Bishop lace or bird’s nest.
The flowers connect us with spring, the awakening of deep and cold winter sleep. The earth begins to sprout again and there is a moment of renewal, of awakening to new possibilities and feeling life with all its energy and intensity.
